MOTIVATION: Face Your Fears and Do It Scared

Instead of shrinking away, move TOWARDS your #fears and increase your #confidence to face adversity head-on.⁣ Fear is an excellent, useful #emotion. It tells us when something isn’t right and when our guard should be up. But sometimes, fear is like an overly anxious parent. It rears its head and freaks us out when there isn’t actually a reason to be scared. ⁣ During these times, we are very likely to run away or freeze. We will tell ourselves that we CAN’T. We stop thinking about forward progress, and instead, our minds become filled with ideas of avoiding discomfort and emotional pain. This leads us into a pattern of feeling ineffectual and messes with our #selfesteem. ⁣ I encourage you to flip the script on #fear starting today. Acknowledge your fear and do what scares you anyway! Whether it’s the next chapter of your career, establishing a new healthy habit (or quitting a bad one), moving across country, stepping into a big romantic commitment, investing more in your mental health, or taking on more responsibility in your life; meet your fear head on and do it scared. ⁣ Do what you fear despite feeling afraid, and remind yourself that your feelings are trying to protect you but sometimes they’re a bit overzealous. Tell your mind, “Thanks, but I got this!” and think about how great you will feel when you’ve conquered your fear by meeting the challenge head on. It will strengthen your resilience each time you confront your fear and come out on top. ⁣ What challenge will you take on today? ⁣
