Dr. Judy is a triple board certified and licensed Clinical and Forensic Neuropsychologist, a tenured Associate Professor at Pepperdine University, and published author, most recently penning Stop Self-Sabotage, published by HarperCollins; a book detailing a scientifically driven six-step program which has been translated into 7 additional languages around the world. Dr. Judy maintains a private practice in Manhattan Beach, CA where she specializes in comprehensive neuropsychological assessments and expert witness work.

She is skilled at working with individuals of all ages struggling with complex mental health, cognitive, and substance abuse concerns, including severe mood and anxiety disorders, posttraumatic stress, psychotic illnesses, developmental disorders, neurocognitive disorders, personality disorders, specialized forensic issues, and lesser known clinical conditions. She uses a scientifically-driven and highly individualized approach with each patient to ensure accurate diagnoses and the development of a well-rounded treatment plan to help them recover and live their best lives.

Dr. Judy Ho is an avid researcher and is a two-time recipient of the National Institute of Mental Health Services Research Award. She hosts an active research program to improve mental health care for high-need populations, publishes regularly in scientific journals and textbooks, and is the chair of the Institutional Review Board at Pepperdine University. Her treatment approaches integrate the scientific principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. She often speaks at national and local events including research, clinical, and corporate conferences and workshops for organizations and schools.

Dr. Judy currently serves as Consulting Neuropsychologist at The Pointe Malibu Recovery Center, a dual-diagnosis residential treatment center for adults, as a Consulting Neuropsychologist at Milestones Ranch Malibu, a dual-diagnoses residential treatment center for adults, and as Consulting Neuropsychologist for the CARE Unit at Breathe Life Healing Centers, a comprehensive evaluation and stabilization program.

Dr. Judy is a featured doctor on MedCircle, the most trusted source for mental health education for patients, supporters, and healthcare workers. She is a sought after public speaker and has spoken at hundreds of conferences, seminars, and workshops.

She conducts regular trainings for mental health providers with the Los Angeles Department of Mental Health (LADMH), has previously acted as a Neuropsychological Trainer and Consultant for the Center for Disease Control (CDC) Legacy Project, and as a Clinical Consultant on the Community Partners in Care Project/Reach NOLA Project.

Dr. Judy has a special interest in the performing arts and is a musician. She is a singer, songwriter, and a pianist, violinist, and guitarist. Her special interest in the arts inspired her to develop a prevention program called the STAGES Project that utilizes Art and Music as the bases of therapeutic intervention for children and adolescents. She has also developed several psychoeducational programs for parents and teachers working with youth to help provide evidence-based strategies to identify and manage common youth mental health and social concerns.

Dr. Judy serves on several Boards in Board of Director and Executive Committee positions. She is currently a Member-At-Large for the Girl Scouts of Los Angeles, and the Treasurer Pro Tempore for the American Board of Pediatric Neuropsychology.

- EDUCATION & ACCOLADES -

Dr. Judy received her undergraduate degrees in Psychology (B. A.) and Business Administration (B. S.) from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed her masters (M. S.) and doctoral degrees (Ph. D.) in Clinical Psychology at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine / San Diego State University Joint Doctoral Program.

 

Dr. Judy is a two-time recipient of the National Institute of Mental Health Services Research Award (2004, 2008), and completed a three year National Institute of Mental Health sponsored postdoctoral fellowship in Child Psychiatry at the University of California Los Angeles Neuropsychiatric (Semel) Institute.

 

Dr. Judy became a board certified specialist (ABPP) through the prestigious American Board of Professional Psychology in 2011 and currently serves as one of the chairs of the ABPP Examination Committee. In 2015 she became a board-certified specialist (CFMHE) through the National Board of Forensic Evaluators. In 2019, she became board certified through the American Academy of Pediatric Neuropsychology, where she serves as the Treasurer Pro Tempore on the Board of Directors and chair of the Membership Committee and as a member of the Finance Committee.
